The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on healthcare systems world-wide and identifying the infection on medical images is a critically important diagnostic skill, especially in the acute healthcare setting. A chest X-ray may be the first investigation result available in the assessment of a patient with respiratory compromise, and it is important in detecting other causes for the presentation such as bacterial pneumonia, pneumothorax and heart failure.
Chest X-ray and CT scans are known to be sensitive at detecting COVID-19 related lung changes including in asymptomatic patients. This RAIQC free-to-use COVID-19 Chest CT and X-ray package is meant for training clinicians, radiographers and technicians in the identification of COVID-19 on these medical image investigations, helping to distinguish COVID-19 from other respiratory conditions. Pilot data shows that clinicians who undertake this training show a significant improvement in their diagnostic accuracy.
Split between Chest X-ray and CT scans, the content has been curated by world experts using real-world anonymised cases from the pandemic, being representative of real-world situations. The self-directed training can be undertaken by anyone in the world via our online, easy-to-use PACS-like viewer and reporting simulator, which provides instant feedback on accuracy to reinforce learning.
